With all the craziness that has been 2020 so far over the past 5 months, many people are looking for some form of relief. With July being scorching hot here in the valley, one form of much needed relief is rain, and lots of it and cooler temperatures. I’ve got great news…that relief is finally on the way.
I have been a weather buff since 6th grade. Took classes in Meteorology, I chased tornadoes (in a non-professional setting which is crazy and stupid), studied weather when I was in the television world, and became a trained certified weather spotter back in 2002-2004 with the National Weather Service. It is a hobby of mine that I absolutely love to this day. One of my favorite times to watch here in Colorado is the monsoon season.
That’s when the high pressure system over the four corners finally gets pushed East enough to allow moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to circulate up through the Four Corners region and straight up to us! On several occasions, we can get some booming thunderstorms that bring what I call a deluge….a pouring rain that will take your breath away if you are out in it, and will certainly make you soaking wet.
So, over the next 3-4 weeks, watch your Southern skies and get ready for some rockin’ storms. Let the fun begin!
